New Community Profiles
Over the last few months we have been developing new profiles of communities around Somerset. These profiles cover the Electroral Wards of the county as well as well as information about each district as a whole.
They are available on our INFORM Somerset web site where you can click the new Community Profiles icon in the middle of the page or go straight to them here.
The profiles cover a variety of information such as demographics, health, education and crime.
Mid-year population estimates 2002-2013
Following the recent ONS publication of mid-year population estimates for 2013 we have updated INFORM Somerset with these estimates for the period from 2002 to 2013.
Following the 2011 Census, ONS revised and republished population estimates from 2002 to 2011 for new LSOA boundaries so we now have 11 years worth of comparable data for small areas.
Visit the People & Neighbourhoods section of INFORM Somerset to view these population figures for LSOAs (2011 boundaries) and District boundaries with Somerset wide comparisons on maps of the county of in data tables.
Personal Well-being in Somerset
We have updated our Health and Well-being section to include latest annual findings from the government's Measuring National Well-being programme, now in its third year. The programme aims to measure people’s ongoing quality of life, and complement existing national indicators such as economic performance.
Welfare Reform Impact Monitoring
The Welfare Reform Act 2012 introduced a wide range of changes to the benefits system, implementation of which began in April 2013. In a new report we consider the local impact one year on, from information provided by Somerset County Council, the five District Councils, main housing providers and local advice services.
Maps of Somerset boundaries
We have added maps showing some of the geographic boundaries used on the site. They will allow you to browse around the county and see which areas are covered by which boundaries, for example if you find some information about a specific Electoral Ward but don't know what area that ward actually covers, you can look it up on the map and zoom in to a high level of detail.
Maps currently available include:
More information on the different way Somerset can be split up and how they fit together is available on our Somerset Geographies page.
