In May 2015, we published Somerset: Our County - JSNA Summary 2014/15. The summary gave an overview of the strategic health, wellbeing and social needs of Somerset people, with a particular focus on our rural communities.

A key aspect was an engagement exercise with young people in rural areas:

Report by Somerset Rural Youth Project on engagement with young people aged 16-24 in rural areas of Somerset focusing on their quality of life in the countryside
A ‘bite-sized’ public summary was also printed and distributed to libraries, parish councils, voluntary organisations and GP surgeries:

80.9% of Somersets population is economically active. 78.0% in employment, 3.6% unemployed. The unemployment rate is slightly higher than regionally (3.5%), but lower than nationally (4.2%). (ONS Nomis Labour Market profile: July 2024 – June 2025).
